Gridle, formerly known as Elisa Distributed Energy Storage (DES), launched in early 2020, was originally developed to optimize Elisa Corporation’s distributed backup batteries across telecom base stations. What began as an internal initiative quickly scaled into a large Virtual Power Plant (VPP) project, spanning over 2,000 sites and managing a total capacity of 150 MWh. Today, Gridle builds on Elisa’s century-long legacy of innovation and automation, optimizing a wide range of flexible energy assets for energy-intensive industries, telecom operators and households.
