Modernizing the Technology Foundation for Equipment Integration

camLine announces the release of InFrame Synapse Equipment Connector (EQC) 5.0.0, with technology and infrastructure updates designed to improve performance, security, and long-term maintainability of equipment integration environments.

The release modernizes key platform components, development libraries, and the EQC WebUI while introducing SBOM generation to provide greater transparency into the software components used within the product.

What’s New in InFrame Synapse EQC 5.0.0?

Java 21 Support

InFrame Synapse EQC 5.0.0 upgrades the platform to Java 21, a Long-Term Support (LTS) Java release. Moving to Java 21 provides EQC with a more current runtime foundation and supports the continued maintenance and development of the platform as Java technologies evolve.

Migration to Log4j 2

The EQC logging framework has been migrated to Log4j 2.20.0. The migration replaces the previous logging technology with the Log4j 2 framework, providing a more current and maintainable foundation for logging across equipment integration applications.

Updated C# Library and Excel Configurator

The EQC DCP C# library has been updated to version 5.0.0 to align it with the current EQC technology stack. The Excel Configurator has also been updated to correctly generate C#-related equipment integration files, helping maintain consistency when configuring and developing equipment interfaces.

Modernized EQC WebUI

EQC 5.0.0 restores and modernizes the EQC WebUI as part of the transition from the legacy ControlCentre framework to SynapseWeb.

The update includes:

• Upgraded Java and ZK frameworks
• Updated SynapseWeb dependencies and CSS components
• Renaming of the application module to SynapseWebEQC
• Code-base refactoring for compatibility with the modernized platform

These changes establish a more maintainable technical foundation for the EQC WebUI and its future development.

Software Bill of Materials Generation

InFrame Synapse EQC 5.0.0 introduces Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) generation, providing a structured inventory of software components, libraries, and versions included in the product.

SBOM information can help organizations identify components affected by known vulnerabilities, review third-party software dependencies and licenses, and support software risk assessments.

This capability also supports growing software transparency and cybersecurity requirements and practices, including those associated with the EU Cyber Resilience Act and U.S. cybersecurity initiatives.
