PCB Intelligence: Turn Gerber files into quoting intelligence.

Upload Gerber files to automatically extract PCB specifications, visualize the board, and identify manufacturing characteristics. Give your quoting team the information they need to price PCBAs more accurately and reduce engineering back-and-forth.

PCB Intelligence Overview

Identify PCB sourcing risks before they impact cost, availability, and delivery

In today's complex electronics supply chain, PCB-related issues can create costly delays, sourcing challenges, and quoting uncertainty. CalcuQuote's PCB Intelligence helps you uncover potential risks earlier by analysing PCB design data and Gerber files before production begins.

Powered by automated PCB analysis, PCB Intelligence highlights sourcing constraints, manufacturability concerns, and supply chain risks that may affect cost, lead times, or component availability. This gives sourcing and quoting teams greater confidence when evaluating new opportunities.

From RFQ to sourcing, PCB Intelligence provides the visibility needed to make faster, more informed decisions, helping EMS providers reduce risk and improve quote accuracy before committing to production.

Why EMS teams use PCB Intelligence

A BOM tells you what components are on the board. PCB Intelligence tells you what you're actually quoting.

Get the Full Picture

A BOM tells you what to assemble. Gerber files reveal how the board is built. View board dimensions, layer count, thickness, and stack-up without manually reviewing dozens of files.

Improve Quote Accuracy

Understanding the PCB helps you estimate manufacturing complexity, communicate more effectively with PCB suppliers, and build more accurate PCB and PCBA quotes.

Reduce Quoting Delays

Identify missing files, manufacturability concerns, and PCB characteristics early so your team can resolve questions before they slow down the quoting process.

Upload Gerber files and view the board

Upload & Extract PCB Data Automatically

Upload Gerber files and instantly access the PCB information you need to start quoting with confidence. CalcuQuote automatically extracts key board specifications, maps layers, and organizes board data without requiring manual file review.

  • Review board dimensions and thickness
  • Confirm copper layer count and board construction
  • Access drill file information
  • Automatically map Gerber files to board layers
  • Validate PCB data before requesting supplier pricing
  • Start with verified board information instead of assumptions

Outcome: you start every quote with a clearer understanding of the board and fewer assumptions.

PBC View Mock 1

Visualize the board

See how the PCB is actually built before making quoting or sourcing decisions.

Review the complete board and explore individual layers to better understand board construction, manufacturing requirements and potential complexity drivers.

  • View the complete PCB in a rendered board view
  • Switch individual layers on and off
  • Inspect copper, solder mask and silkscreen layers
  • Review drill locations and board structure
  • Explore stack-up relationships between layers
  • Verify that the board was interpreted correctly before supplier engagement

Verify the stack-up

Confirm that the board structure matches manufacturing requirements before it affects pricing, sourcing or production decisions.

Automatically mapped layers give you a starting point, while editable stack-up settings allow you to review and refine board construction when additional validation is needed.

  • Review automatically mapped PCB layers

  • Adjust layer assignments when files are mapped incorrectly

  • Verify layer thickness, material and polarity

  • Review available drill file information

  • Visualize copper, dielectric and solder mask layers in context

  • Confirm how the board is constructed before supplier engagement

Render a visual preview of the full stack-up to validate board structure and identify potential issues before they impact manufacturing discussions or quote accuracy.

Outcome: you gain confidence that the board has been interpreted correctly before manufacturing decisions are made.

Analyze Manufacturing Complexity

Review detailed manufacturing and assembly metrics to better understand board complexity, manufacturability requirements and potential quoting risks before supplier engagement.

  • Assess board scale through pad count, drill count and other PCB complexity indicators
  • Review SMT, through-hole and via distributions to understand assembly effort
  • Analyze fabrication requirements including drill specifications, clearances and layer connections
  • Identify special board features such as panelization, gold fingers and castellated holes
  • Detect manufacturability concerns through DFM analysis and Gerber validation checks
  • Surface PCB characteristics that may influence supplier selection, pricing and lead times
  • Better understand the factors that contribute to manufacturing complexity before requesting quotes

What the analysis actually shows you

Every board is broken down into the specifics that drive cost and manufacturability, not just a general complexity score.

Assembly complexity Board fabrication Manufacturability
Total pad and drill hole count, so you know the board’s scale before pricing Fiducial presence, which machines need for placement alignment Via count as its own complexity signal
SMT pad sizes broken down, so suppliers spot unusual footprints early
Connection metrics between layers, not just the layer list Drill-to-edge and pad-to-edge clearance, the numbers suppliers check first
Checked against real thresholds like minimum annular ring and copper-to-edge clearance Parsing problems point to the exact file at fault Export the original files, board state, or layer images straight from CalcuQuote

Built into the Quote Solution

CalcuQuote allows you to review PCB data where quoting decisions are made.

Instead of exporting files to a separate PCB analysis tool, your team can access board specifications, stack-up details, complexity analysis and board visualizations directly within the quote.

This keeps PCB information connected to the RFQ and supports faster, more informed quoting decisions.

We take pride in 98% retention rate

Sabrina Beck
Vice President | Altek Electronics

“We’re in a really challenging environment right now, and some of the components are very difficult to find. That’s where we need to put all of our effort. CalcuQuote has enabled us to distill down to those components that we need to pay the most attention to.”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Inside the quote, in the PCB tab. Attach Gerber files at the RFQ header or on a PCB line item and the board loads automatically.

  • Layer count, board size and thickness are read directly from the files, and layers are auto-mapped into a stack-up. Other details like finish, IPC class, RoHS and plating are set by you.

  • Board overview, pad classification (SMT, through-hole, vias, test points, fiducials), panelization, feature detection such as gold fingers and castellation holes, DFM checks, and detailed fabrication specs including drill analysis, annular rings, clearances, copper percentage, solder mask and silkscreen.

  • Both. Assemblers get assembly complexity signals such as pad counts, SMT and through hole mix, and panelization. Board manufacturers get the full fabrication specification. Hybrid companies benefit most.

  • Files are stored on infrastructure appropriate to your designation, including ITAR servers for ITAR customers, and never leave that environment.
